Flickerfest began as a small local festival at Balmain High School in 1991. Over the last 27 years it has grown to become Australia's only Academy© accredited and BAFTA recognised competitive International Short Film Festival with entries coming from filmmakers across the globe.
The Flickerfest national tour started in 1995 and has grown to become a very important part of the festival. The tour takes in the main competitive programmes and some special sessions to many regional and metro areas which rarely have an opportunity to view this collection of the best of the world's short films.
Flickerfest will present films at 50 venues Australia wide and Kununurra Picture Gardens is proud to have been part of this festival for the past 5 years.
The Kununurra Picture Gardens (KPG), is a unique Kimberley experience - an outdoor cinema where you can pull up in your ute with a bean bag/swag/couch (we've seen them all) and watch a movie under the stars, whilst your mates are in the next row in their deck chairs on the amazing new lawn!
Available from at the Kununurra Visitors Centre - (08) 9168 1177 and at the gate on the night. CASH ONLY, NO EFTPOS facilities available.
