About the Festival
Through a diverse calendar packed with exciting events & experiences including dining under the stars, music, yoga boats, comedy, storytelling, rodeo and more, to the local characters & flavour that make Kununurra and the East Kimberley one of the most iconic destinations in the world, the Festival is a truly enthralling, enchanting and magical experience for all.
From humble beginnings in 2001, the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster came to life quietly as a simple one night affair, a pleasant dinner in the outback for local businesses. Since then, it has grown at lightning speed to be firmly established as a pre-eminent event in the national festival calendar, being a three time Hall of Fame Inductee (2017-2011-2008) at the WA Tourism Awards as well as being officially recognised as the Best Regional Event in Australia at the 2015 Australian Event Awards to name but a few notches of ‘The Muster’s’ belt.

The Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster is directed by the Ord Valley Events Incorporated Board, a group of community-minded individuals who bring skills, knowledge and networks to the organisation, collectively working towards producing a world class event series for the benefit of the broader community.
The Ord Valley Muster was created by the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce & Industry (EKCCI) in 2001 with the aim of bringing together community and industry participants highlighting the region’s extraordinary cultural diversity, unique landscapes and developing business opportunities with a focus on activities and the talented people of the East Kimberley. One of the event’s principal objectives is to promote a wide range of seasonal economic activity through sustained tourism development.
Originally formed as a sub-committee of the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ord Valley Events became incorporated in July 2009, and we have directed the Ord Valley Muster ever since!

The State Government is proud to sponsor the Ord Valley Muster through the annual Regional Events Program, which supports medium to large events in regional Western Australia.
It is fantastic the Ord Valley Muster has returned to the spectacular East Kimberley in 2024 for its 22nd year, from 17 to 25 May.
The nine-day festival is the launching pad for a cultural experience unique to the Kimberley and involves a celebration of the region’s music, food, art, and cultural experiences through a diverse program of exciting events. It includes dining under the stars, music, yoga boats, comedy, storytelling, rodeo and more.
This event continues to go from strength to strength with the much-loved event recognised in the recent Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, where the 2023 Ord Valley Muster won the Silver Award in the Festivals and Events category.
The Ord Valley Muster is one of many sporting, cultural, arts and culinary events sponsored by the State Government across Western Australia to attract visitors and encourage them to stay longer, disperse further and to do more while they are here.
The festival provides a timely reason for Western Australians and out-of-State visitors to explore the Kimberley, which is ready-and-waiting to welcome visitors to this stunning and unique part of our State.
Breathtaking Kimberley attractions like the World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park and the region’s ancient gorges, incredible waterfalls, and abundant wildlife await. Now is the time to take the opportunity to explore this awe-inspiring region further.
